One of us! @0xWenMoon is L2 maxi!
Hot take: All L1s will eventually pivot to being an L2 on Ethereum.
When I worked at Arbitrum, there was always something I knew was true about the design philosophy.
The natural question is, why build as an L2? The answer was that Ethereum was decentralised enough that we could leverage that while building a more performant chain. Preserving both decentralisation and performance.
However, this comes with a logical conclusion.
If for any reason Ethereum ceases to be the most decentralised ecosystem, Arbitrum should immediately no longer be an L2 on ETH and should look for alternatives.
I don’t see this same philosophy from L1s. I wonder, why not build as an L2 on Ethereum? And whatever those reasons may be, if they cease to be true would they then have the balls to pivot to being an L2?
Kudos to Ronin for making that step. Many more to follow.
