Hyuna's Crypto Frensletter 🐸 Week 27 (June 30 - July 6) "There Is No Week 26, I Love You" edition Hi Frens! Here's your Monday round-up of what happened last week in crypto. -- 🌊 Ripple Effect: Ripple launched the XRPL EVM Sidechain mainnet last Monday, enabling EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatibility in the XRP ecosystem. 🌐 Global Entry: American trading platform Robinhood delivered a keynote speech at EthCC last Monday, announcing tokenized stock trading for European customers. U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs can now be traded as tokens on Arbitrum (an Ethereum L2), and European users will also have access to crypto perpetual futures. American customers in eligible states will be able to stake Ethereum and Solana. šŸ›‚ Just Kidding: $TON price jumped by 10% due to a premature announcement of a UAE (United Arab Emirates) Golden Visa initiative, which was immediately refuted by the UAE government. According to the original statement, staking $100k worth of $TON for three years (+ a $35k one-time processing fee) could qualify you for a 10-year UAE Golden Visa, with applications including family members, and annual returns of 3-4% of the staked amount. The Toncoin site has since posted a clarification: 🫧 Laundry Service: Brazil is handling the fallout from its largest financial cyberattack to date, with over 800 million reais (around $140M USD) exploited as a C&M Software, a key infrastructure provider for Brazil’s Central Bank, was compromised. Hackers paid a C&M employee for his credentials, which they used to divert funds from reserve accounts held by financial institutions. An estimated $40M USD has been laundered into major cryptocurrencies via Latin American OTC trading desks and exchanges. šŸ‹ *Whale Noises*: An Ancient Bitcoin whale moved over $8B (that’s Billions with a B) USD last Friday, sparking speculation and debate. Theories on CT ranged from a quantum hack to the Silk Road’s Dread Pirate Roberts (recently pardoned Ross Ulbricht) moving old funds. On-chain analysis showed that the Bitcoin in the wallets were coinbase transactions, confirming that this was a former miner. šŸ” Nothingburgers: The Big Beautiful Bill was signed into effect on July 4th. There was nothing about crypto in it. However, House Republicans are calling for a ā€œCrypto Weekā€ beginning on July 14th (next week!) to push forward three major crypto bills: the CLARITY Act, Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, and GENIUS Act. šŸ’” Extra Credit Reading: Wake up babe, new Arthur substack dropped last week p.s. Here’s a (relatively painless) quick guide I wrote about Alkanes, you know, the one big thing I’ve been shouting about for the past 7 months? It’s a metaprotocol that’s enabled native programmability on Bitcoin and it’s kind of major. …Now you’re all caught up! Have a great week (: p.p.s.
