It should really not be easy I wanted to do my own SOL node a while ago, and it was super annoying... And it's not unusual for DEV FORK to do hard forks, but it's really a bit unusual for Toly to make such a hard fork... Always DYOR。

Wow. Pretty cool to see solana knowledge to be so widespread that external devs can fork everything. There are 3 phases in open source: 1) no one cares about your code 2) everyone forks your code but doesn't return any value back upstream 3) actual meaningful contributions back upstream It's not entirely like this, but it's really really really hard to get any meaningful bug fixes from external forks. 1/20 doesn't suck basically.
