The Zk Stack upgrade (Atlas) of Zksync is worth paying attention to, with several points: 15,000 TPS for the sequencer; 1-second ZK finality (via Airbender, which is an open-source RISC-V prover that supports generating ZK proofs for blocks in about 1 second, close to real-time); a transfer proof cost of 0.0001. This TPS is higher than Visa's actual average TPS. Visa's average throughput is about 1,700-4,000 TPS (during peak demand).
This means that usable payment scenarios can be built on the ZK Stack, with not only high TPS but also low fees, and almost real-time finality. In theory, this means that instant payment applications or application chains can be built, such as P2P transfers, cross-border remittances; supporting DeFi payments (flash loans, automated liquidation, high-frequency micropayments); micropayments between AI Agents; merchant integration (retail payment gateways, with fees far lower than the traditional credit card's 2-3%).
What does this mean for Ethereum and Zksync?
For Zksync, the upgrade of the ZK Stack presents an opportunity to technically enhance its chances in L2 (native interoperability and low-cost ZK proofs); laying a technical foundation to attract developers and institutions to build applications or application chains based on the ZK Stack. The tools for the technology have already been built, but how many institutions and developers can be attracted will also test its operational capabilities.
For Ethereum, the progress of the ZK Stack further advances its ZK Rollup roadmap (rollup-centric) to address mainnet congestion and fee issues, while integrating Ethereum's security, ultimately giving the Ethereum L1/L2 combination the opportunity to support large-scale crypto-financial applications.
Incorruptible Finance is now real-time.
