[ Aptos's New Standard "FA" ]
Aptos already had standards in place.
For example,
Coins corresponding to ERC20
Tokens corresponding to ERC721
However, Aptos is taking a step further.
Introducing the Fungible Asset, "FA".
Existing Coins were based on ERC20, which lacked customization and scalability. Additionally, having separate Tokens and Coins for NFTs reduced compatibility. In the future, we will need advanced policies that operate based on RWA.
This is why FA has been newly introduced.
FA consists of two Objects:
Metadata => Token name, symbol, decimals, etc.
FungibleStore => Management of token holdings, etc.
There are two types of FA:
Vanilla FA: Basic token functionality
Dispatchable FA: Designed to execute custom logic during transfers, deposits, and withdrawals.
Aptos is currently in the process of automatically migrating the existing Coin module to the FA standard, starting with the APT token. With the introduction of the FA standard, the structure is unified, aiming to improve compatibility among wallets, exchanges, and DeFi protocols.
Aptos is responding more flexibly and swiftly in the RWA market and is showing genuine commitment to expansion!
