Recently, I was looking for a better experience with on-chain perp and came across some interesting designs. The biggest problem with on-chain trading now is not just the poor experience, but the fact that you know you've been front-run, yet there's not much you can do about it. Many DEXs are competing on speed and market-making mechanisms, but very few can actually solve this problem. @ambient_finance is one of the few exceptions; it uses a "40ms auction model"—matching is done uniformly per block, so no one can queue-jump based on speed, naturally eliminating MEV and front-running. The experience is also very smooth; it doesn't pop up a wallet or charge fees, and you can complete the transaction in one go, hardly feeling the cumbersome on-chain process. Regarding price feeds, it was previously mentioned that the relationship between the @FogoChain team and the @PythNetwork team is quite special, and this was very evident in ambient, where they collaborated deeply with Pyth to integrate its oracle, providing millisecond-level price feed functionality to avoid price liquidation issues due to inaccurate quotes. Currently, @ambient_finance is running on the Fogo testnet, and the perp currently only has the BTC-USD trading pair, while ETH-USD and SOL-USD are also displayed. I believe they will be launched soon, and I've heard that once officially launched, the speed of adding new tokens will be very fast. Compared to those DEXs that have improved speed but still provide a poor trading experience, Ambient has taken a somewhat different path. Moreover, the team behind @ambient_finance is the official Fogo team, and the core team of Fogo originally worked in quantitative trading, with one member being a well-known former employee of Jump Crypto. They definitely understand trading much better than us small retail investors, and the products they create speak for themselves—they're guaranteed to be user-friendly. Similarly, as a high-speed public chain using the Firedancer client, Fogo aims to attract users, and the perp is undoubtedly a key battleground that must satisfy users. In an era where there are many strong players in the perp DEX space, Hyperliquid is undoubtedly the strongest, while the strength of others remains to be seen.
