when $REKT was launched, everyone said NOT to launch on ethereum mainnet due to expense, liquidity and attention.
despite that the decision was made to launch $REKT as an ERC20 on mainnet.
some of the biggest meme coins out there rn are also on ethereum mainnet ($PEPE, $SPX, $MOG, $SHIB).
i generally think ethereum mainnet attracts a different type of holder.
very few people are coming to mainnet for a quick flip; given transaction costs, people only really decide to buy and hold if they truly believe in something (also explains why volumes are generally lower until you get CEX listings).
imo, if your ambition is to build something with longevity, this is actually a feature not a bug. you won't get that initial skyrocketing price action like you do on other chains, but if you create something real and act with integrity you will amass holders for life.
it's been a rocky road for ethereum fans but i think the winds are changing and people are starting to realise that when ethereum whales wake up, it's different gravy.
