SAM ALTMAN’S WORLDCOIN: THE DYSTOPIAN FUTURE OF DIGITAL IDENTITY? Using an "Orb" to scan irises, Worldcoin offers a digital ID and cryptocurrency, but the trade-offs are chilling. Privacy Nightmare: Your iris, a unique biometric marker, is now a tradable asset. Critics warn that Worldcoin’s invasive data collection and questionable security could turn personal identity into a hacker’s playground. Centralized Control: In a world that desperately needs decentralization, Worldcoin centralizes identity power in the hands of Altman’s company, Tools for Humanity. What happens when a tech elite holds the reins of who you are? A Dystopian Solution: Framed as a response to AI-driven job loss, Worldcoin hints at UBI, but with tech elites controlling the system, it feels more like manipulation than salvation. Global Backlash: Regulators in Spain, Kenya, and beyond are raising alarms about privacy breaches and ethical concerns, casting doubt on this so-called innovation. With projects like @Humanityprot that offer a secure decentralized digital identity solution that puts users in charge, is there any need for Sam's Worldcoin?
🚨🇵🇹 PORTUGAL TO SAM ALTMAN’S WORLDCOIN: STOP SCANNING EYEBALLS FOR CRYPTO Portugal’s data regulator (CNPD) has ordered Sam Altman’s iris-scanning project, Worldcoin, to halt biometric data collection for 90 days. The CNPD flagged major privacy concerns, including data collected from minors, vague consent policies, and the near-impossible task of deleting your data once it’s stored. Worldcoin, co-founded by Altman (yes, the OpenAI guy), wants to scan your irises using “orb” devices, offering a digital ID and free cryptocurrency in return. Over 300,000 Portuguese citizens and 4.5 million people globally have already signed up. But critics aren’t impressed. Spain banned the project this month, Kenya shut it down in August, and Germany is leading an EU-wide investigation. Privacy advocates warn storing sensitive biometric data could lead to hacking or exploitation, while Altman insists the project is key to verifying humans in an AI-dominated future.
