About HSBCRaisesSpaceXTarget

HSBC raised its SpaceX price target from $117 to $150 on Sept 15. With the stock near that level, the move reads as acknowledging improved expectations rather than signaling upside. Early investor Vy Capital disclosed a $40B stake and projected SpaceX could exceed $10T within 5-7 years. Wall Street targets range from $150 to $300, reflecting public market focus on capex and earnings delivery. Is SpaceX a space and telecom company, or an AI infrastructure platform to be priced differently?

After $SPCX dropped, I actually started looking at it again. SPCX is now at a completely different price compared to when it just launched in June. On June 16, it reached an intraday high of $225.64, then later dropped to around $137 at its lowest, a nearly 40% pullback from the peak. I used to think SpaceX was a great company, but the stock price was too high, so I wasn’t very interested above $150. What needs attention now is the unlocking of shares.

$SPCX — When the target price catches up, the real question is: what’s already priced in? 🚀 HSBC just raised its SpaceX target price to $150, while the current price is already around $144. At first glance, that sounds bullish. But when a target price is only a few dollars above the market, it also suggests the stock may no longer be considered cheap. SpaceX’s valuation is being built on three layers: Starlink + launch business — the core business already generating value. #DailyOrbit

Elon Musk says Tesla and SpaceX need their own chip manufacturing capacity if they want to keep scaling AI, robotics and autonomous cars. His argument is simple: if chip supplies from Taiwan are disrupted, the consequences could be massive. And with existing fabs already running at full capacity, Musk says there are only two options: “Either build Terafab or fail to scale.” Tesla and SpaceX are already building an R&D chip fab in Austin, with the first useful chips potentially coming by the end of next year.

A $40B stake is evidence of how far an early bet can travel, not proof of the next valuation milestone. Vy Capital's projection that SpaceX could exceed $10T within 5-7 years sets a much higher bar. My read: the key test is whether expansion into AI and orbital compute can generate earnings that justify the ambition. A long investment horizon helps, but does not settle that question. #VyCapitalSpaceX40BStake

INTERESTING: A VC firm with just four investment staff has built a $40 BILLION stake in SpaceX, per FT. Vy Capital owns roughly 3.4%, making it the company’s fifth-largest shareholder, ahead of the disclosed holdings of Sequoia and Andreessen Horowitz. It first invested in 2016 at a roughly $15 BILLION valuation. The firm's assets under management jumped from $27 BILLION at year-end to $50 BILLION in June. $SPCX
