How to find the new good thing and capture the easiest wins in crypto
Over the past few months, I've been obsessed with @izebel_eth's goated "good new thing hunter" theory and I spent that time coming up with an 8-step framework to find and win with the new good thing
Before we start, a brief Bible moment:
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
There’s nothing truly new. Don’t overthink it. Don’t get too picky.
1) I often question if I am early to something. This is bad. I am in the telegram groups and on twitter. When I first spot something, I am always early. if you're reading this thread you're always early too. Do not doubt yourself. Probably best to buy first and research later
2) The inverse hate hypothesis. Long whatever is making people mad. if people are talking about why something isnt new, good or exciting, it's probably a good long. remember there is nothing new under the sun anyway. If it's causing a strong reaction, it's probably good
3) dont be a contrarian. Contrarians faded sol and hype (been there, done that, got the t-shirt). Consensus assets run the hardest in crypto. DONT BE A HERO
4) buy the main token or dont buy at all. LAUNCHCOIN was a great example of this. when a new meta spawns, tons of derivative coins pop up. yes they are cheaper and can give you higher multiples but you're not going to pick the right one. just ape more into the main one instead.
5) Be online, but dont look too hard. Do not force it. You won't be the hero and you don't have to be. The winners are surprisingly easy to spot. LAUNCHCOIN was the last new good thing and it was obvious for a brief period in time
6) Until proven otherwise, do not actually believe in something. most of the easy money is made early. DO NOT BECOME A COMMUNITY MEMBER. 99% of the time it is better to sell on the way up and miss PNL than to hold. never ever become a community member
7) you want to buy the token at $50-100m fdv. this is the range where you dont get zero'd out if things go wrong and you have a chance to get out. too early can be bad. dont try to be a hero
8) you very likely want to be at least 90% out as the token approaches $1B. For me that means selling roughly half of my position at $400m. I am a believer in a 10% moon bag as an emotional edge.
Let me know if this framework helps — and drop your own rules below. I think we're heading into another season of new good things. Be ready.
