Web3 (and stablecoins) are driving finance and e-commerce towards true internetization and digitalization.
Jack Zhang of Airwallex may not realize this, as he's comparing Airwallex and stablecoin payments using the existing market model and old rules. This is perhaps like comparing an optimized version of a traditional media model with internet media using the rules of the newspaper industry.
When finance and e-commerce are truly integrated as one, where will the original electronic systems and bank clearing systems be? Of course, this will take a long time, and we will see a convergence of the two models. Even many sub-sectors may find it more advantageous for the old system to actively move forward. However, the future is unlikely to be dominated by the Airwallex model.
Local licenses plus local liquidity pools only optimize the original system or deliberately bypass SWIFT. This is very heavy and is more like an upgraded version of the previous generation of products. It's valuable and solves real-world problems, but taking a shortsighted view of the next-generation model is not a good approach.
