doing an experiment to live off of crypto without having to go through irl banks for a few months
How I am using cypher rn
- 1 metal card for irl ATM withdraws
- 1 virtual card for irl services, amazon, etcvia apple pay
- 1 virtual card to pay for @frenpetonbase services, hosting, etc
takes few minutes to setup, it spends USDC directly from my wallet, really magic
Why does it feel like magic so far:
- login with wallet
- get notifications to TG on every buy
- everything in USDC (or any other token but I picked usdc/usdt)
- no fees
- really nice modern easy ux unlike banks
- can cancel card, set limits, get new card in 1 click with 2025 ui unlike banks
- can set custom names on new cards so for example I got a card for my father and he can live off of my crypto, no need for complicated transfers
only reason would need bank rn is if I have a really big purchase or I need to onboard into crypto large sums to cold storage so would send wire from bank
I paid $200 a year for premium no brainer
It's a yc company, I predict someone will buy them for billions eventually as really useful product that uses crypto
