Inside OKX Outcomes' World Cup Run

450,000 Fans Tested Their Football IQ on OKX

What started as an experiment proved to be one of the OKX community's most loved experiences of the year so far. With over 85,000 players taking a share of nearly $4M in rewards, The Beautiful Game World Cup campaign has paved the way for a new season of Outcomes on OKX.

Free-to-play. Almost $4 million paid out in rewards

OKX Outcomes let anyone predict match results and tournament props, such as Outright Champion and Golden Boot, for free, earning points for correct calls to climb the leaderboard and earn a share of the BTC rewards once the tournament ended. $3,939,970 in total rewards were distributed across the tournament:

  • $1,839,970 in BTC rewards to leaderboard and Champions Picks winners

  • $2,100,000 in partner-sponsored matchday bonuses

85,652 individual customers won rewards, spread across more than 166,000 individual payouts. The single biggest result belonged to the leaderboard's top finisher, who walked away with 1 BTC (~$66,186) from a free-to-play market.

The numbers behind the run

Almost 450,000 people took part in OKX Outcomes World Cup campaign. According to onchain data, at its peak, on July 3rd, OKX Outcomes daily trading users reached an estimated 70% of Polymarket's unique trading addresses, the world's largest dedicated prediction market. Engagement held up over six weeks, not just on marquee matchdays: 73% of participants came back for two or more matchdays, and 46% did so on five or more, with the average user staying active for 8.5 days across the tournament.

What makes OKX Outcomes different

Prediction markets aren't new, but OKX Outcomes is built on a different set of rules:

  • Built on Exchange OS. World Cup Outcomes was the first venue deployed on Exchange OS, OKX's protocol-layer upgrade built on X Layer that moves matching, margining, liquidation, settlement, and risk management out of siloed venues and onto shared, high-performance infrastructure: the same stack that powers OKX. The tournament was its first stress test in production: daily prediction volume roughly doubled entering the knockouts, and the platform held up without missing a beat.

  • Free to play. There was no buy-in, nothing at risk. Participants could take a position on a match or tournament prop without staking their own money.

  • Points = rewards. Correct calls earned points, and points determined each user's share of the BTC rewards.

  • Points are all onchain. The leaderboard and reward calculations were fully verifiable rather than sitting in a private backend.

What's next: Season 2 launches soon

A second season of Outcomes launches in mid-August. Join early in the app to claim your bonus earlybird 200 xp. Look out for new markets and gameplay. If season one paid out almost $4 million to 85,000+ winners off the back of a single tournament, season two is the moment to find out what a full calendar of markets can do.
