Web3 (and stablecoins) is driving finance and e-commerce towards true internetization and digitization. Jack Zhang from Airwallex may not realize this; he is comparing Airwallex and stablecoin payments under the existing market model, using the old rules. It’s somewhat like comparing an optimized version of a traditional media outlet to internet media using the rules of the newspaper industry back in the day. When finance and e-commerce truly merge, where will the original electronic systems and banking settlement systems be? Of course, this will take a long time, and we will see the integration of both models. In fact, many subfields may find that the old systems advancing proactively could have more advantages; however, the future should not be dominated by Airwallex's model. Licenses from various regions combined with local funding pools merely optimize the existing system or deliberately circumvent SWIFT. In reality, this is quite heavy and belongs to an upgraded version of the previous generation of products. It is valuable and solves real problems, but holding a short-sighted view towards the next generation model is not a good approach.
