Here is why - directly from the mouth of Mythical Gamesâ boss @johnwastaken :

In essence, we have our very own L1 , secured by the Polkadot relay chain, which I think is the most secure !
With Polkadot, we have have the best of both worlds, the cost structure is great, the ability to change the rules as the DAO evolves is great!
