Compound's strength lies in a relatively straightforward DeFi proposition: supplying assets and borrowing against collateral. Yet a lending protocol's reputation is only one part of its competitive position. Borrowing demand, capital efficiency, liquidation performance, and the incentives offered to suppliers all influence sustainable growth. If incentives weaken, organic demand becomes a much more revealing measure of protocol health.
