$CRWV CoreWeave looks like the AI version of an old story.
Borrow money.
Buy assets.
Scale fast.
Use that scale to borrow more.
Evergrande did it with real estate.
CoreWeave is doing it with AI compute.
The asset is different.
The customers are different.
The industry is different.
But the financial instinct is the same:
push growth now, worry about the bill later.
CoreWeave has real customers, real contracts, and real demand.
But it also has real debt, real interest costs, real capex, and real depreciation.
And in a leveraged business, the danger is not just slow growth.
The danger is when:
debt stays rigid
interest stays rigid
customers change their minds
GPU prices fall
financing gets more expensive
Then the growth story starts to look like a balance sheet problem.
So the question is not whether AI is real.
AI is real.
The question is whether CoreWeave can turn borrowed scale into sustainable cash flow before the debt catches up.
How far can America’s Evergrande go?
Maybe far.
Maybe not as far as the market hopes.
